Wow, re-watching it as an adult is eye opening to say the least. Sam is basically assaulted by her grandmother who fills her up. She also experiences harassment by a guy who likes her. The popular guy lets his black out drunk ex-girlfriend…

Unwatchably bad. Among the most cringe-inducing movies I've ever seen. There are plenty of movies from the 80s that hold up well. This ain't one of them.

What a classic movie that almost every teenage girl (from now and of the 80's) can relate to. Hopefully none of you will ever go through the humility of having your sixteenth birthday forgotten, but here, it works. John Hughes simply…

Okay, not great. Some interesting young Anthony Michael Hall. Perhaps too cliché in most aspects. Parts somewhat move along in what should be a positive way; though later, doesn't really make sense. Quite a few things left hanging, which…

This movie is actually one of my favourite 80’s films and stars Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Michael Schoeffling, and John Cusack. Samantha is a teenage girl who is turning sixteen, but with her sister’s wedding coming up and her…

This is a fun '80s classic. The humor is over-the-top, and Sixteen Candles and Weird Science are more teenage sex comedies than the other movies John Hughes wrote; it's not a favorite genre of mine, but I have a lot of nostalgia for these…

A Brat Pack classic about a just-turned-sixteen-year-old and the romantic and family angst that color two days of her life as her family forgets her birthday, her older sister prepares to be married, and a high-school dance turns into one…

Created in 1984, the story of "Sixteen Candles" follows Samantha Baker, a teenage girl who is in love with the most popular guy in school. To make her life a little more complicated, her parents forget her sixteenth birthday and she is now…

The ultimate teen classic. I don't care how old you are or which generation you grew up in. This movie will stand the test of time! It's a must-see!

This John Hughes film is iconic for its comedic portrayal of how a sixteen-year-old girl acts as maturely as she can while dealing with her own angst that everyone has forgotten her birthday on account of her older sister's wedding. She…

Iconic John Hughes romantic comedy that hits on all cylinders. Great cast. Well written and acted. Great soundtrack. Super funny. Pure 80's gold. Better than Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful. Hits where they miss. Classic.

From the DVD Extras from "Pretty in Pink", Molly Ringwald claimed that John Hughes wrote her Sixteen Candles character by using only a photo of her. He pulled her photo out of a stack of photos and they had not even met at this point.
