I really liked it. To me, this book was such a promising start to a career of wonderful books. Unfortunately, the books published after this one have let me down. “Me Before You” was a cheap shot. It seemed to be a book…

I'm confused. This book was long and sometimes too wordy but I stuck with it to see how it all got resolved. At the end Nicol says "I am Henry" I'm 85 so I guess I missed something somewhere. That didn't make to me. 3 stars. Can't…

I like this author but not this novel. I read half the book and stopped. Seemed like it was stuck and going nowhere.

My sister was a war bride so perhaps I expected some degree verisimilitude to her experience, instead it was just a novel. It’s overly long and not very believable. I am familiar with this writer’s books but this was a disappointment.

I loved this book. This is a book that should be made into a movie. Easy read.

Jojo Moyes writes historical fiction with the same talent seen in her previous stories of love and survival. A bit of history unknown to me and I'm sure many more. Unfortunate that these women missed the "me too movement" - they…

Imagine meeting a man in the desperate times of war and deciding quickly to get married. The new husband sails away, not to be seen for some time. Then imagine leaving everything you've known in life to join the man in his world- if he…

It was interesting to read about these women and how the war changed their lives so completely. This was one aspect of the war that I had never heard about. To me it is sad that women had so little love in their lives and were treated so…

A big JoJo fan, I turned to reading some older novels while waiting for the next big one. This one is different because it's historical, so you don't get the gripping moral dilemmas that she is known for in her recent work. This earlier…

In SHIP OF BRIDES author Jojo Moyes offers a fascinating glimpse into a little-known period of history. The year is 1946, and this fictional story follows 4 Australian war brides traveling aboard a British aircraft carrier to reunite with…

This one read very slowly which is why I am knocking it down a bit, but overall I did enjoy this story especially with it's historical context. A fascinating story! And thank goodness it ended the way it did, I would NOT have been a happy…

Though I'm the daughter of a WWII veteran, I had never heard about bride ships. Everywhere Allied forces served, soldiers married local women. At the end of the war, all those brides needed transport to be reunited with their new (and…

Moyes turns her talent to historical fiction. The WWII Australian women who married British GI’s during the war are transported to England vial Bride Ships. Four very different women end up as roommates on an aircraft carrier. This is an…

I loved this book for the history, the obvious 'issues' of a ship full of 1000 sailors and 650 young married women who were leaving Australia to meet their husbands in Britain, the problems of a very pregnant 'mother-to-be' and the…

It took me a while to get into the story unfolding in "The Ship of Brides." But, it was worth it. I could definitely tell, from just reading, that this is one of Jojo Moyes' earlier works of fiction, compared to her more recent novels(One…

Everything by Jojo Moyes is very readable. This novel is no exception, and if you love all books in the WWII era you are in for a treat!
