My first DeMille. Good, but long. Liked story, characters, suspense. Learned things about Afghanistan, Venezuela and army investigations and strategy. I think I’ll do the same 2 nd in the series.

I realized that I didn't make a comment on this novel. I gave it a 4.5 rating - therefore, it must have been a terrific book as with many of DeMille's novels.

4 star. I enjoy Nelson De Mille's books and this is the first one written with his son Alex De Mille and I enjoyed it as well. Kyle Mercer is a deserter and an elite Delta Force operator. After deserting, he was captured by the Taliban and…

A long but good read. I enjoyed the setup to get to the jungle, but after they arrived the story dragged and I lost a little bit of interest. And at the end they survived against 2 AK-47s... really? and an airstrip without an access…

.Much like DeMilles's previous offering, "The Cuban Affair", this is all about how many smart-ass comments he can come up with, Its boring at first, then becomes irritating, as it is the sole point of his writing. Its a pity, because this…

Another good DeMille novel, I liked it. Uses the successful Nelson DeMille formula (though this was a team-writing effort with his son): two brave cops/soldiers (Brodie male, Taylor female) go into a dangerous and nasty place and…

I have been a fan and reader of books by NELSON DeMILLE for forty years. I have just finished THE DESERTER written with his son ALEX DeMILLE. I am sorry that I was so long between DeMille books. He is, and now with Alex, at the top of his…

I really enjoyed it. I really felt it was obvious though which parts had Nelson Demille's satirical touch on them. it wasn't my favorite Demille read but it was definitely a Demille read and I really liked it.

Very entertaining read! I love Demille's wise-cracking characters (think John Corey) and as an Army veteran, the plot logistics rang true. Highly recommend for fiction readers.

THE DESERTER by Nelson and Alex DeMille merits two reviews. One as a novel, and the other related to some of the backdrop content. And I am trying for no spoilers in either review. Looking at it as a novel, it is a well crafted, clever…

Not bad, however I found it a little too wordy. Follows the same lines as 'Up Country" only on a different continent.

This was reminiscent of DeMille’s early works which are very good! A soldier from Delta Force in Afghanistan disappears from his post, shortly after a video is released by the Taliban showing him as a captive. Two years later, he has…
