Add a CommentThis is a cute book with lively illustrations that allow you to extend the book by counting the penguins or naming things. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is that nothing really happens. It is just a catchy rhyme.
My 17 month old carries this book around asking anyone who might read it to him, "choo choo?" As soon as one person reads -it, he asks for it again. He can't get enough of it. He gets so excited abotu the "puppy" who pops up about halfway through the book. First book he's done this with. Returned it - and he tore every book off his shelf, crying "choo choo!"
Both my sons were into trains and loved this - I've read it so many times I know it by heart. Great read aloud for a group - get them to do the train whistle sound. They also like how it's loud at first, then gets quieter until the end when it's time for bed.
Great book for a 1 year old who loves trains..the quick text makes the store move along..and the whooo whoo makes for fun sounding reading!!
2 sentences/page, easy read for young ones.
Possibly 15 pages.
