this book depicts Lord Brocktree not just as a powerful badger lord, but also as a caring friend. I loved this book! it was so interesting and very funny, I am trying to read all of them and this one is the best one to start with for sure.

I really like this Redwall book. It has a good plot and well developed characters who do not become one dimensional. Dotti is hilarious, and the scenes at the court of King Bucko Bigbones are probably my favorite from the whole series. Salamandastron is not depicted as unassailable either, which is a nice change. Definitely better than at least half of the series.

This was a good book and I srongly suggest reading it. It is about Lord Brocktree fighting back against the evil tyrant Ungantt Trunn to get back his rightful possesion, Mount Salamandastron, as a badger lord. Through out the book Brocktree and his companions had to band together to travel safely back to the mountain while meeting new friends and companions along the way. Who will win the mountain? Lord Brocktree's army and faithful friends, or Ungantt Trunn and his hord of blue vermin. You will have to read to find out! (This book is part of the Redwall series)

This book is definatly above all the rest. Read this book for yourself and you will be carried into an imaginary land filled with badgers and mice. I love how descriptive Jacques is in this novel. I would read this book over and over if Jacques had not written so many other great books. -John Penshorn

The crowd waited with bated breath. Dotti peered even closer at her opponent, until her nose touched his. "Hmm, you do look a bit peaky, sah. All that shouting can't be doing you much good - all that jumping about, too. Have you got a pain in your tummy, is that it?" Roars and hoots of laughter greeted this remark.
