A great read and very informational on the preparations for WWII. Truly captures the ingenuity of Churchill and his warning of the impending war. Although it's long, The Gathering Storm successfully portrays many countries' situations before the Second Great War.
Fascinating look at WII from the perspective of one of the central participants. Churchill writes with wonderful English. At times, some of his analyses seem a little "preachy," or "I told you so." While written as a work of history, it was written very close to the time of the events described. Thus, dispassionate analysis this is not. Nevertheless, a fascinating account of the period from Versaille (more really from the early 1930's) until the German attack on France. A long read, but written in a way that you can read it in small "bites." Took me about 3 months of intermittent reading. I do plan to read the next episode in the series, "Their Finest Hour."
This is a fascinating first person account of events leading up to WWII.
