A woman comes face-to-face with a serial killer who glorifies the art of death in this "ingenious"* thriller from the #1 New York Times  bestselling author of the Penn Cage series.

They are called "The Sleeping Women." A series of unsettling paintings in which the nude female subjects appear to be not asleep, but dead. Photojournalist Jordan Glass has another reason to find the paintings disturbing...The face on one of the nudes is her own--or perhaps the face of her twin sister, who disappeared and is still missing. At the urging of the FBI, Jordan becomes both hunter and hunted in a search for the anonymous artist--an obsessed killer who seems to know more about Jordan and her family than she is prepared to face...

Jordan Glass is a photojournalist finishing up an assignment in Hong Kong when she decides to see an art exhibit before leaving. Everyone is telling her that she has to see The Sleeping Women-a series of 19 nudes by an anonymous artist. She finds the paintings a bit disturbing. The women don’t look like they are asleep. They look like they are dead. She can’t stop looking even though the paintings make her uncomfortable. She makes her way to the final painting of a woman with her eyes open as she leans against a window. The eyes look like those a doll would have…lifeless. Jordan recognizes the face. She knows that body. It is her face and body in the painting with the dull, dead eyes staring at nothing.
Just over a year earlier, Jordan’s identical twin sister Jane vanished without a trace after leaving her home one morning for her daily run in the Garden District of New Orleans. A massive search turned up no clues and soon the FBI got involved believing Jane to be the fifth woman to disappear from the New Orleans area. No bodies had been found. Could Jane be the latest victim of a serial killer?
This is the first book I ever read by this author and he is now one of my favorites. This story had me hooked within the first few pages. The suspense is tight as the main character joins forces with the FBI to track down the anonymous artist and find out if her sister is indeed dead. If you like suspenseful, edge-of-your seat storytelling, you will surely like this book. Other titles by this author that I recommend are: The Quiet Game, True Evil and Turning Angel.

Entertaining, with some very unexpected turns, but the end was cheesy and way beyond credibility
