The last thing Jack Mansfield ever wanted was to arrest his college sweetheart - especially with her five-year-old hanging onto her and crying. But as police chief in Bullard, Texas, he had an obligation to do just that.

While sitting in her jail cell, Charli sees all the mistakes she's made by not listening to her inner voice. She married Vince, who left her pregnant and alone. She took the job at the bank against her better judgment - and now she stands accused of embezzlement. But her worst case of bad judgment was breaking it off with Jack - the man who is now about to risk his own career to prove her innocence.

Jack has always been in love with Charli, but if she goes to jail, he may never have the opportunity to try again for "happily-ever-after." He's must find out who's framing Charli...

“ I’m sorry Charli, but I am here to arrest you” is the first line of this fast-paced book set in modern-day Texas. Jack is an old spurned flame of Charli’s and currently holds the position of the town’s Chief of Police. As the novel progresses, circumstances both romantic and dangerous bring them together.
An enjoyable read with deeper lessons embedded in it.
