In 1959, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. One mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead. Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule's contents and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of Caleb. But it is Caleb's father, professor John Koestler, who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. With the reluctant help of the daughter of the now-deceased author of the prophecies, John's increasingly desperate efforts take him on a race against time until he finds himself facing the ultimate disaster and the ultimate sacrifice.

A VERY WEIRD MOVIE -- I GUESS IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A TAKE-OFF OF THE BIBLICAL RAPTURE, BUT ALIENS FOR THEM INSTRAD.

One of my favorites despite the fact that the numbers are excessive. I don't believe we'll vanish with one wave of a sun belch, but American military intelligence remote viewers say that's where it starts... it's just going to happen in patches they say.
So, I enjoy the film as a basic idea and enjoy Nick Cage any day.

This is a 2009 SF fantasy-thriller directed by Alex Proyas.
Although I believe that the earth will eventually vanish when the sun will engulf it in billions times billions of years, it won't happen in the near future.
The acting performances, visual effects and the screenplay are all excellent.
I thoroughly enjoy it to the hilt.

No, kiddies, this isn't a movie that requires you to wear your "thinking caps". Nope. It's a movie that demands you wear a dunce cap.

And you must continue to wear that dunce cap all the way through this movie 'cause that's the only way you'll ever have any hope of getting anything worthwhile or of any value out of Knowing's 50 million dollar, intelligence-insulting story.

And, with that, I'd definitely say that Knowing has got to be one of the deadest "dead-end" Bible/Noah's Ark/Adam & Eve stories ever made. This film's story goes from potentially hopeful to utterly and pathetically hopeless faster than any other movie that I've seen in a might long-long time.

Anyways - In conclusion - All I can say is that director Alex Proyas really deserves a good, swift kick in the ass for foisting this absurd, inane and preposterous piece of "prophecy" garbage on us as the unsuspecting movie-audience. Yep. He really does.

Poorly executed and childish. Cage, after learning to act a few years ago, has reverted to his "early stage" one-dimensional and irritating acting. If only Hollywood were more interested in story and acting and far less interested in special effects and mawkish "family" entertainment.

Not horrible, considering it's a Nicolas Cage movie, but not particularly good either.

Started with an interesting premise that was let down by the film makers not knowing what to do with it.

A good premise that was haunting and well filmed. A Nicholas Cage movie I actually liked!

Very good dark apocalyptic movie, good special effects. Somewhat like a horror movie. Would recommend it.

I'd group this in scifi/thriller instead of horror but I can see it being viewed as almost apocalyptic. Its a different view on biblical images as well as alien life-forms. It might be difficult to figure out the story but if you watch it with an open mind, its actually quite powerful.
