Journalist Frank Bruni reveals his decades-long fixation on food and the detrimental effects on his personal life. As someone who has endured a similar love-hate relationship with my meals, I appreciated his open reflection on those dark habits.

His story does take an unexpectedly positive turn, giving it an inspirational note, when he shares stories of determination and comical challenges working "undercover" as a food critic. Some may find the book overly-detailed and self-absorbed, but I found Bruni's self-narrated audiobook captured a personal and insightful story.
