"Buck Privates", 1941, was released approximately 11 months prior to the Japanese bombing us at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. America was getting ready for the eventuality of war by instituting the peacetime draft of 1940. Today's Americans maybe aren't so ready to protect their America as were the people in 1940. Abbott and Costello were immensely popular. And the Andrew Sisters are a talent that no one today can equal. The movie does not have anything but good solid American unity and the enjoyment and pride of being an American. Today's whiners would not have been tolerated by the men and women of the 1940s. God bless America!!!
