I heard this was a great book to learn the basics of Linux, but the material is extremely outdated. I learned a few handy tricks, but that's about it.

A week afterward, the library picked up the 2010 version. My Linux skills are definitely past the beginner level now, but I would recommend the revised edition to people expecting to learn something useful.

Once upon a time I'm sure this was a great book, though.
