I picked this up mainly because of Jim Peterik who has written songs for 38 Special as well as for his bands Survivor and The Ides of March as well as other artists. I read those portions attributed to him as well as other artists but haven't read the whole book itself as of yet.

I decided to not read the whole book. "Dummies" books can be a bit insulting at least in their premise, if not in their actual layout or writing and ultimately I'm not that interested in song writing though I tried writing songs (more the lyrics) when I was younger.
