Karate Kid is a film about a kid named Dre Parker who due to his mother’s career, has moved to China. Dre Parker meets a girl named Mei Ying and he seems to like her but, this relationship is opposed by a kid named Cheng. Compared to Dre, Cheng is quite adept in the arts of Karate and after an encounter with Cheng, Dre is left with a black eye and is unsure of what he can do. Afterwards, Dre meets a maintenance man named Mr. Han. Mr. Han offers to teach Dre how to defend himself using Karate. Karate Kid was an amazing movie to watch and I really enjoyed seeing Dre progress in the arts of Karate, and I think that this is a good movie to watch with family. Overall, I would rate Karate Kid 5/5

Should be PG-13 for violence though it's PG

I like Jackie Chan, but the whole entire premise of this movie is stupid. Beyond stupid. Mildly entertaining but often annoying. It could have been improved a bit by concentrating on Chan instead of that snotty kid.

I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was well done. I liked the fact that the producers did not try to remake the original but make a movie that was similar yet its own and not just a remake. They put distance between this and the original so it is its own movie.

This is a remake of the 1984 film of the same name.
Despite having the same original title, this movie does not feature karate, which is from Okinawa, but focuses on the main character learning kung fu in China.
So, this should be called "Kung Fu Kid."
In any case, I enjoyed this nice and entertaining movie to the hilt.
