Silly book; full of anachronisms--can't seem to make up its mind of its time period. It is supposedly taking place before Daphne du Maurier was a published writer (1931) but refers to German bombers (WWII; WWI in the air was dog-fights and aces) and listening to Edith Piaf's 'Non Je ne Regrette Rien' (released 1960-1). And then some of the dialogue is straight Regency Romance ('devilish odd').

A very good read. I'll be looking for more from this series.
The young Daphne du Maurier seems quite believable - although I found the depiction of her sister, Angela, interesting - perhaps reflecting somewhat Daphne's own later ambiguities.
