(Lyrics excerpt) - "He had white horses... And ladies by the score... All dressed in satin.... And waiting by the door... Ooh. What a lucky man he was..."

From the early-to-mid 1970s, Emerson, Lake & Palmer (aka. ELP) were (almost without rival) the most popular and commercially successful progressive rock band of their day.

This "Supergroup" trio of talented dudes (from Britain) were an unquestionable influence on the direction of the art-rock scene as it stood in that unique era in rock'n'roll history.

ELP's music emphasized the sounds produced from the moog synthesizer. Their tunes were often met with disapproval from countless critics who frequently accused ELP of being a pretentious and heavy-handed band.

Now, I would never say that I loved everything that ELP ever recorded - But I will say that they certainly had a very distinctive sound and some of their tunes were actually quite good (if you took the time to listen).

This "Best Of" collection is a 2-disc, CD set containing 30 of ELP's most memorable songs from the years between 1970-1992. Four of my favourites are - Lucky Man (watch video), Tank, From The Beginning, and Trilogy.
