I think I would've enjoyed this book, and this series, had the writing been better and the plot not so much of a mess. Not even Mac's personality could make me care for the things that were happening.

And while I appreciate that KMM gave us an ass, not a hero or an antihero, in the shape of Barrons, and yes he was enigmatic, and unapologetic, I just didn't like enough. And what confused me most of all was that KMM built five books drilling us that Barrons is a monster, a beast and forced us not to humanize him or box him in conventional hero parameters, and then she goes and makes him a (view spoiler), and suddenly you've got a reason to justify and humanize his every action and words. I just threw my hands in the air and went WTF at it.

I loved this series, Moning is a great author and true blood was just as good I'm hoping there will be a show or movie adaptation. :D

Book 5 of Fever series, preceded by Dreamfever and followed by Iced. This book wraps all the other 4 books and answers all/most of our questions. It has a good ending and I was definitely satisfied. Great series! But it's not the end....

I started reading this series kind of as a joke, but I got hooked in and sprinted through all five as fast as I could. Barrons!!

Mac has now lost everything and she wants it back. To do that she joins hands with her worst enemy. Mac has been broken in every way possible; losing her sister; discovering she is not who she thought she is; being tortured; being raped; and losing her other half, all of which have slowly contributed to fracturing her mind. Now all that is left is the raw truth. While Mac is off in the silvers, Dani releases reports on what is happeniing in Dublin. The inner thoughts of several others are also shared, whether in short quotes between chapters, or by being given a chapter. The one given to Barrons' is quite out of place, and feels like the author could not think of any other way to make his return known.
The author has a great ability to create atmosphere between two interacting characters, whether it be Barrons' and Mac's silent talks, or the pissing contests between V'lane and Barrons, there is always a great deal of tension. It mounts ever higher between Mac and Barrons' as they continue to dance around one another. With so many highly strung characters, Dani is a blessing, a release for the readers from the strain.
A huge amount of time has been spent on the idea of trust...more like how none of them trust any other. At the end of the day though, they have to all work together, therefore they have to cede some of their control. And with the revealing of truths, trust comes, V'lane learns to trust Mackayla, Barrons' struggles with it until Mackayla is truthful with him (earlier on glimpses are caught when Mac uses her new mind technique to pry some thoughts out), and Mackayla herself begins to believe in herself. Ultimately, it is with the return of Barrons' that she realizes her true feelings. After certain events occur she is brought to a new low, and for once they actually converse. This part is well thought out, with her at her limits emotionally, she can't help but let go of some of her control to ask for advice; the reader can only think, it's about time. All has led up to her figuring out who she really is, and the final test comes in the form of the book. An unexpected twist also brings to light the real form of the one behind all this as well. Moning is very good at twisting the readers minds with hints of truths, but never revealing it all until right at the end.
In the other books, Mac spoke to the reader about her past, from the present, this one feels as if, now that she has briefed you, it is the present. Each book represented a stage in the journey, as she would put it, she is now a Mac version 5.0. All loose threads are tied up by the end, although Dani's was not done with enough depth, and felt tacked on.
The true strength of the fever series is in its characters, they all struggle to survive, but still have the ability to love. None are completely black or white. The mixture of urban fantasy, and romance genres remains well balanced throughout, so lovers of either will find plenty to wet their appetites.

This was a longer read then the rest. I was beginning to get disappointed over a character I thought was gone until after the first 100 pages and every page was great there after! I know there are 2 more books but hope this series keeps going quite a while.

This series is outstanding. I have so much respect for Moning for developing this incredibly inventive world populated by such compelling and conflicted characters. I'm truly sad to have reached the end.

I love Jerricho Barrens.

This book was definitely a little on the long side. If you think movies have one, two many twist and turns, you have not read this book. MacKayla was an interesting character until the unraveling of Dani (Danielle) in the last book. This isn't something you want to come into with high hopes, but you can hope for mind bending twists.

Whoaaaaa - this is not what I expected this series to be about or all the twists and turns that follow Mac's adventures in finding her sister's killer. Didn't think it was the person who I originally had thought that had killed Alina. I have a love-hate thing for Barrons, V'lane was intriguing character, but not what I expected either. Be warned - there are some erotic scenes and foul language, but buckle in for a crazy ride with Mac, Barrons, V'lane, Mega O'Malley and the Book. Will she overcome the evil book and have all the prophecies come true? Guess you have to read and find out...hehe you will enjoy it.

Loved reading this series. Disappointed it's over but doubt another book is necessary.
