These are the absolute best of our bestselling hardcover titles -- published in paperback eight to twelve months after our hardcover publication date. Lightweight and easy to handle, these quality editions are ideal for outreach and nursing home programs.Lucas Davenport faces his most unusual and most implacable foe in Clara Rinker -- the best hitwoman in the business. She isn't showy, not one of those movie killers; she just goes quietly about her business, collects her money and goes home. It's when she's hired for a job in Minnesota that things become complicated for her. A defense attorney wants a rival eliminated, and that's fine. But then a witness survives, the attorney starts acting weird, this big cop Davenport gets on her case, and loose ends begin popping up faster than a sweater unraveling ...

Easy read. Good plot except for the reason the bimbo lawyer is attracted to Hale, who is a few bricks short of a full load. Sort of makes you wonder how Hale got through law school etc.

Lucas Davenport #10. A criminal attorney (read that how you will) and a hit woman team up to clean up. A clean up that may include sweeping Davenport off the board.

Another good read by Sandford. Interesting story about a female assassin.

A very original plot which should scare us all as Sanford seems to draw his characters from real events. You will find yourself drawn to the assassain as she is the smartest and most motivated of the characters-go Clara. Lucas better bring his A game to this one.

This is probably one of Sandford's books that I've liked the most. The plot was tight and very well developed

I think this and the follow-up, Mortal Prey, are among my favorites among the 22 Prey books. Clara Rinker is one bad ass killer but she brings a dimension to Davenport that makes him more real. This is a fun read, well written (the author is a Pulitzer Prize winner, so what can you expect) and memorable.

Previously read. Female contract killer teams up with wacko female killer lawyer. Davenport interacts with both. Fun read, good characters.
