Breathtaking review of the major currents of history as the interplay between geography, demography, ideology and the individual human genius, the theories that have been advanced about them. Transitions into highly perceptive summaries of key countries up to the present time.

This topic and author sounded interesting, but I could not get past the first chapter. Kaplan seems, to me, to be citing a broad range of geopolitical factors, which are self-evident, as he descriptively travels across contintents. Maybe I missed something, but I did nto have the patience to delve into it further.
