Agreed, this book is incredibly SLOW. One of the main characters (Aphenglow) is also incredibly STUPID. Really you have had two attempts on your life (and had to be saved both times) but you are STILL going to hide from your hired bodyguard???? She is also incredibly dishonest (although Terry Brooks tries to make her out not to be) she basically feels that her vows to anyone other then her chief druid can be broken whenever she likes.
One interesting aspect of this book is the fact that Terry Brooks has broken from the typical quest format - in the sense that you take a main character who is young and not good or evil and put them through a series of challenges to make them choose. Maybe I have to wait until book 2 to see this?
