Okay, I know this book is way to long and way too complicated but I loved it. Imagining a completely different world and scribing it to paper is a rare talent. I loved the characters and once hooked reveled in the length of the book-I didn't want it to end.

I picked up this book, having long ago read and enjoyed 'The Alienist' and 'Angel of Darkness', assuming it would be similar. Boy, was I wrong. According to the author's notes, this book was almost 3 decades from inception to publication. I wish he had given up writing it and that I had given up reading it before completion. I agree with the other comments about the "notes" and the invented words. Overall, the plot was uneven and the conclusion seemed forced (perhaps by those three elapsed decades?). I would not suggest this book to anyone, and I resolve to look at the jacket blurbs of any book I check out from now on.

Good book but creative words make it slow and a slight bit hard to read. But in overall it's a good book.

Not a bad story idea but the author has made up way too many words then uses 100 pages of story notes at the end of the book to explain the made up words. Really slows down the story.
