Adrenaline rush is not normally equated with regency romance, but man, Bourne is so good at it. Like Loretta Chase's stories the characters are fierce and fearsome. Like Sherlock Holmes or the Bourne novels, the main characters are hyper-alert and equal to almost anything.

Though #1 of 5, chronologically it is the second in the series. Annique and Robert's story is a lesser favorite of mine in an excellent series, my best regency discovery in the last few years. You will also meet a very young Hawker and the massive Doyle.

Enjoyable read and well written. An Epilogue at the end of the book would have been nice, but did not take away by not being included.

I enjoyed the book, although I found it annoying that the master-spy heroine was so easily outwitted by the spymaster hero. The period flavor and the interesting characters saved this for me.

Loved this book! I love all her books, but this is my favorite. I loved the two main characters. Lots of great dialogue and chemistry between them. I really enjoyed the witty conversations, humor and drama.

Most historical spy romance novels are light on the spying, heavy on the ballgowns. Spymaster’s lady is very different. Annique Villiers is akin to Jason Bourne ala Bourne Identity. It flows like a real spy novel should. She’s clever and can take care of herself as she tries to get important information from France to England while being tracked down by all opponents to the game that is political intrigue. Staff picks 2010.
