An extraordinary novel of love and loss, redemption and revenge, from the New York Times bestselling author whose "characters, plot, and pacing are unrivaled" (Michael Connelly).

Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.

It's been more than twenty years since Claire and Lydia last spoke. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire; Lydia, a single mother dating an ex-con, struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the disappearance of their sister Julia two decades earlier--and the shocking murder of Claire's husband brings the horror and heartbreak of the past roaring back into their lives.

The vanishing of a teenage girl and the killing of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: What could connect them? As they form a wary truce, the surviving sisters unearth the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and find the astonishing truth they least expected.

"Slaughter's eye for detail and truth is unmatched… I'd follow her anywhere." --Gillian Flynn

"Extraordinary . . . a major achievement."--Kathy Reichs

Great read!

I was hoping to find a Gillian Flynn read-a-like, but was a bit disappointed with this dark psychological thriller. This tense and twisty story connects the unsolved cases mysterious disappearances of two young women. Warning: this book contains graphic and gruesome descriptions of extreme violence against women.

I was so excited to read this book because I heard fantastic reviews from friends and online. The plot was intriguing, but it wasn't something I couldn't put down. It actually took me awhile to get through. I wasn't able to root for the main characters because they kind of annoyed me. I enjoy thriller novels, but this was one was only OKAY.

No way! I felt like this was writtened for a movie script, not Karin Slaughter's fans! I wanted to rip it up, but I have to give it back to library.

A great read!

This book kept me on my toes! I wanted to keep reading to the end to make sure justice was served. It was...but the path to get there was so dark and twisted that I would hesitate to recommend this book. It is not for the faint of heart! If you can handle very dark, violent themes and love a thriller - this is the book for you. If you're like me - a more casual fan of the thriller / suspense genre, I would say to skip this one in favor of a less intense read like "The Couple Next Door."

SUCH A GREAT READ!! This book had me scared, empathetic, overjoyed, just an array of emotion. It is beautifully written and detailed very well. Pretty Girls is just the book the keeps on giving.

Tense, smart, well twisted but a little too long.

This was much too graphic for my liking, but I felt I needed to read to the end to resolve the images that had been placed in my head. Characters were a little too "convenient" in their discovery and secondary characters were not well-fleshed out.

This book was incredible. My very first thought after finishing it, was I wished I could start it all over again (and I never reread books). If you aren't a fan of graphic images / scenes than maybe pass on this. It can be extremely graphic in parts but it is such a beautifully crafted story. I absolutely loved it. And I seriously find myself thinking about the last chapter all the time. If you are a mystery / thriller book lover, read this!!
