The name Owen Wilson will probably never be used with the phrase; "And the winner of the Academy Award for acting is .........". This film is very light entertainment. Action is somewhat contrived.

The entire movie is violent, lots of dead and dying people. Blood, shooting, killing. The American family is well matched. Owen Wilson as the husband does exactly as he pleases and the oldest daughter is just like him. Both of them put themselves and the family in danger. This was an okay movie. There are lots of impossible actions in this movie. The ridiculous escape from one building to the other. I really do not think that would be possible.

Not so many movies have ever kept me on the edge of the seat. This one surely did. An excellent thriller I just watched for the second time. Frightening and realistic. Will watch again.

Oh please...
I'm trying to figure how they could make ANYTHING in this film even more phony, but that would take some thought. Of course, they use the children (& wife; though keeping with PC protocol, she also gets to play Superman) to try to build tension, but all they do is just make it even more absurd (if that's possible). I'm assuming they're shooting for an audience that doesn't have children, or has never even been around children, or isn't married, or has never even dated, or has never traveled, or has NEVER been in a stressful situation (e.g. Isn't it funny how when the fire alarm goes off, no one has to go to the bathroom...), or doesn't have ANY common sense in human behavior, or etc., etc., etc.
Also, Pierce Brosnan is totally wasted in this film.
(Owen Wilson, OTOH, needs to stop being in films, and pursue his true vocation: a used car salesman.)
Note: Aside from the very end being the most absurd fantasy (un)imaginable, I love how the Vietnamese are supposedly speaking to/warning the Cambodians in English!! LOL

Fast paced, reasonably well done, but I'm really tired of filmmakers using the "annoying child who messes things up" to increase tension.

Rated 1/10. This movie, with Owen Wilson in the lead, just proves one more time that he cannot act.

Every single movie that I have ever seen him in, he is exactly the same way. The same hair style and delivery of his lines. Nothing ever changes.

Mind you, the actress who played his wife, Lake Bell, equally matched his lack of skills in this waste of space.

And, Pierce Brosnan's part almost seemed like an afterthought. He must have been hard up for work to play in this this low budget tripe.

Lots of fast-forwarding in this one. No more Owen Wilson for me, thanks!

Very well done. Note that the Dowdles are locals. Kudos!

***SPOILERS***
No Escape is a thrilling action movie. Because of a business issue, a family moves from the USA to Thailand, Asia. From the second day they arrive, they are caught in a huge crisis between the rebels and the government. These rebels hate the foreigners because they think they do not deserve to take over their business... while also against the government. Jack, being the only man in the family, has to protect his wife Annie and his two little daughters. Together they jumped roofs, hid in buildings, rode motorbikes, and at last, used a boat and crossed the border of Vietnam. The escape was not easy, but family is worth dying for.

Quite a gripping story indeed! Keeps you on the edge of your seat. If it were to be based on real events, it would be a hair-raising escape from the city on fire. Children's emotions have been captured well by the director. Intermittently, the scenes are loud and dark. Overall an enjoyable movie.

***Spoiler Alert***
Hammond: We...have interests in this region.
Jack: We?
Hammond: Our countries. The corporations who run them have interests here. So I show up all nice and friendly, offering to get them a loan to pay for our services, which we know they can't afford. Then we build them power plants, waterworks, freeways... it doesn't really matter. And when they can't repay us the debt... we own 'em.
Jack: The rebel leaders said we were trying to enslave their people by controlling the waterworks.
Hammond: And they were right. Most of those merciless men out there...they're just trying to protect their children, just like you. ... You're alive, Jack. Your family's alive. There's no good or bad here, there's only...just get your family the hell out.
