Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, the film tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who, after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
"Grade B... Cutting-edge Marvel movie."--Entertainment Weekly.
"A really raunchy, very dirty and pretty funny goof on the entire superhero ethos, as well as the first Marvel film to irreverently trash the brand."--Hollywood Reporter.
"Ryan Reynolds gets the full-throttle wisecracking showcase he deserves in this scabrously funny origin story."--Variety.
"Deadpool avoids enough pitfalls to both embrace and flamb℗♭́Ư the superhero genre while also finding time for romance, doling out equal handfuls of bullets, barbs and warm fuzzies."--USA Today.

In many ways, similar in spirit to the original “Robocop”.

if ferris bueler and die hard had a lovechild, this franchise would certinately be that
it has enough pranks to make the viewer laugh
yet at the same time, reynolds's smart alecky remarks makes a normal viewer of john mcclanes antics in die hard want to give reynolds the award for "worst superhero" when trying to actually do their job right

Interesting story-line & script. Liked the characters. Funny

Deadpool is specifically geared to an infantile mentality where its "hero" (ha!) is a sniveling suck who can't even tell jokes properly, missing the punchlines and constantly talking down to the audience like he was the most superior one of all.

This movie is pure garbage. It is a perfect example of how low the superhero movie genre has fallen in this jaded day and age we now live in, as it scrapes the bottom of the barrel for laughs.

This is the ideal movie for those who like to smell other people's flatulence.

If you think this is going to be yet another Marvel Comics matinee you’re in for a delightful shock for this very adult send-up of the genre is filled to the gills with kinky sex, spraying guts, and more F-bombs than a Chelsea Handler monologue. Right from the opening scene where the camera slowly revolves around a frozen mid-air tableau of mass carnage while Juice Newton croons “Angel of the Morning” and the credits inform us that the film is directed by “An Overpaid Tool” and stars “God’s Perfect Idiot” you know you’ve already left "Green Lantern" territory far behind. Ecstatic sequences of violent gore (shot on Vancouver’s own Georgia viaduct with the West End waving in the background) are spiced with hilariously rude, semi-improvised dialogue dripping with sarcasm and geeky in-jokes, Reynolds often breaking that fourth wall to address the audience directly with a wink and smirk behind his spider-man-ish body costume. Co-stars Karan Soni as Deadpool’s cab-driving chauffeur, T. J. Miller as a bitchy bartender, Stefan Kapicic as the voice behind a metallic CGI Russian superhero, and a spry 73-year old Leslie Uggams as Deadpool’s roommate who won’t let blindness prevent her from assembling an IKEA dresser. Be sure to leave the kids at home.

I’m over 50, and I love this movie!

I like the comment by twocalifornia because I am over 50. LOL Leaving this one to the younger generations. Tried it though.

If you're over 50 you won't get the brilliance and humor of this movie...go watch something more your tempo like Sound of Music. Plenty of gratuitous violence and off color humor. Moreno Baccarin stole the show like she did in Firefly.

It was an alright movie, nothing special, I can see why it did not get any awards.

Deadpool: [to the audience] I know right? You're probably thinking, "Whose b*lls did I have to fondle to get my very own movie"? I can't tell you his name, but it rhymes with "Polverine."

[In an Australian accent]

Deadpool: And let me tell you, he's got a nice pair of smooth criminals down under.

Yeah, it's me, Deadpool, and I got an offer that you can't refuse. I'm gonna wait out here, okay? It's a big house. It's funny that I only ever see two of you. It's almost like the studio couldn't afford another X-Man.

I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he just wasn't having it. They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he's just a bad parent.
