Season 3 keeps the grittiness, and unpredictability of the cerebral storytelling in tact.

Season one focused more on Raylan and the marshals, season 2 a little less. Season 3 focused far too much on the bad guys, who weren't as interesting as the writers and directors seemed to think. I really got sick of the guy, Limehouse, constantly cutting meat.

Enjoyed seasons 1 & 2. Looking forward to season 3. Even my husband likes this series surprisingly as we have very different likes in TV shows & movies.

Loved 1st season, liked 2nd much less, and think they have recoverd lost ground in season 3. This series reflects one of the most successful trends in tv, which is great casting makes great tv. Of course you need good writing too, but this show has very good writing for the most part, with a little tendency to repeat situations like whoever gets taken prisoner is sure to get away or get out. And btw the final moments of this season was very nicely done as opposed to last year's finale which was a huge let down.

This season lacks the wit and terrific character driven stories of the first two. This time around there's more violence and a darker less likeable vibe. Justified has gotten by just fine without cheapening itself until now. Did they run out of ideas? It's easier to write violence because there's not much story and little to no dialogue. The characters aren't even memorable this time 'round, particularly Neal Mcdonough. I wouldn't say the show has jumped the shark but its headed that way.

As Raylan Givens heals from his near death gunshot wound the fight for control of Harlan County begins. With all the Bennetts dead except for Dickie control of organized crime is up for grabs. Boyd Crowder and his brother make some tactical moves to reestablish their organization. Meanwhile an exile from the Detroit mob, Robert Quarles, arrives in town trying to set up shop as well. As usual Raylan's investigations get in the middle of all the mayhem. There is plenty of action and bloodshed in the gruesome third season of Justified.

Still Sharp and action filled with the mob from Detroit inserted in the local oxycodone drug trade.

This show is more or less a cop drama. That is not my bag. That being said, I love this show. Olyphant just plays the gunslinger to a tee. The dialogue is well written for the good guys and the bad. There are always many interesting and/or quirky secondary characters. Yes. The show is not based in reality. But I like the fantasy it is selling.

Raylan: [about Limehouse] A horsefly sneezes in these hills, he knows about it beforehand, but I'm to believe the car bomb and the dead trooper down the road comes as news.
------------
Boyd: Well I guess we best both sleep with one eye open.---
Limehouse: I always do. -----Raylan: Honey, if I started arresting people for committing adultery, I'd never make it home for supper.
