Reviewing this as someone who knew about X Japan, but did not start listening to their music until after watching this documentary.
Their story is full of drama, anguish, and perseverance. The documentary itself has excellent music (X Japan's, of course) and visuals, befitting a visual kei band. Yoshiki gets the most screen time - I wish they had added more interviews from the other members, but it's nice to see Yoshiki's vulnerability. He physically tears himself apart for music, because it seems it's the one thing that makes him feel whole.

Intriguing documentary about the bond between band members and their fans. I can't say I connected with the music but the narrative of X Japan's members made this worth watching.
