An interesting presentation of a multi-generational Lakota family through the settlement of the US. This book spans so much time that it gives an excellent perspective of the treatment of Native Americans throughout the history of our Nation (USA). But not only treatment of the natives, but conflicts within the tribes between those trying to preserve history, those trying to adjust to the pervasive culture, and members that fold and fail under pressures of US government restrictions. A good history, and not necessarily skewed in the Native favor.
