This has got to be my least favorite in this series as of yet. If this had been the first book I'd read, I'm not sure that I would have continued on with the series. That being said, I still liked it. It was still a good read, but I felt that it lacked some of the realistic feel of the books before it. Sort of like how a television show about something is never how that thing is in real life. I found myself thinking that some of the reactions and decisions that the characters made(in particular, the main character Logan McRae) were unlikely, as if deliberately and inelegantly setting up drama to be cultivated in the future. Nevertheless, I will continue to read these wonderful books. The next one, Dark Blood, is off to a promising start. I love Stuart MacBride's writing style, and often I find myself stunned by his wonderful, hilariously accurate metaphors. As each book starts, I find myself eager to find out what has happened in the characters' lives since the last book ended. All around, this series is definitely a worthy read.
