This book chronicles the life of the 4 Welch children (told in their own words) who lost their father in a (mysterious?) car accident and three years later their mother, to cancer. With the oldest child being a teenager when this all happens, we found out how this family copes with this dramatic change. Their retell of their loss and struggles is so honest, you can't help but cry. It is such a heartbreaking story, but at the same time it's a happy one because this family is so bonded and supportive of one another. It was hard to put this book down.
