The overall message of the book is well-communicated: few people have the ability to both live lavishly and have lots of wealth. People with money will have to do one or the other, most of the time. And Tom Stanley wants you to live below your means and build wealth, not spend yourself into endless stress, trying to look richer than you are.
That said, I got reeeeeeeeeeally tired of stats on vodka and suits and cars. Some of these chapters could have been half their length and communicated just as much information. Oh well.
