The Minotaur bounces between being a spy thriller and a novel about the development of an attack aircraft with related behind the scenes ministrations. Surprisingly, even though this novel is more than 25 years old, it works as a retro novel. With television series like The Americans and Halt and Catch Fire set in the 80s, The Minotaur doesn’t have any glaring disconnects that prevent a current reading. The novel is a bit too long and without a totally satisfactory denouement. However, it does move and is well written for the most part.
